why food?
Food is Essential - 1 of 4 essential needs for human life - air, water, food & shelter.
Food is a Renewable Natural Resource - Chlorophyl in Plants collects Solar Energy which produces Sugars that go down the plant’s roots to feed the many trillions of microbes in the soil. In turn, the microbes feed the plants minerals from the soil. They trade nutrients!
This supremely sophisticated primal exchange is the process which grows all of our fruits & vegetables. As well as all of the pasture forage and grains which feed our egg/milk/meat animals - chickens, turkeys, dairy cows, pigs, beef, sheep, goats.
It can truly be said: All of Life - Eats & Thrives on Solar Energy!
why now?
Fragile & Inefficient - average grocery food item travels 1500miles.This just-in-time inventory system is easily disrupted leading to food shortages.
Convenience over Nutrition -70% of grocery food items are “ultra-processed” designed for convenience & “eye appeal” over nutrition, This adds unnecessary cost to each calorie you consume and robs your body of the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
Profit over Nutrition -industrialization has lead to urbanization. Today, 80% of our nation’s people live in urban areas. This offers large food companies the opportunity to give these many food shoppers what they want - appearance, convenience & flavor. Nutrition is incidental. The shopper assumes if a “food-looking” item is on the grocer’s shelf, it is one of our Mother Earth’s “natural, renewable resources” - food.
